As we head into winter, the temperatures outside are set to fall, so why not make sure that your wedding menu is wonderfully warming? By adding a little spice and some gentle heat to your wedding food, your guests can enjoy your wintry wedding without getting the chills. So, if you’re looking for a menu that’s packed full of winter warmth, you’ve definitely come to the right place!
During the winter months, there’s nothing better than food and drink that really warms you. The same is absolutely true on your wedding day and our seasonal menus let you spice up your wedding breakfast whilst still making sure that your food is suitably special. If you include a little spice, you’re guaranteed a super hot wedding day!
While your guests are mingling after your ceremony and everyone is having photos taken, the time is right to heat things up and we’d suggest starting with your drinks. A warming rum Julep made with dark rum, orange juice, peach nectar and mint is just what’s needed. Hot canapés are also a great idea. Deep-fried crispy pork belly with Panko breadcrumbs and Chinese five-spice or curried lamb with a mint yoghurt dip would be our choice, particularly if you’re outside for romantic wintery photos.
When you make your way inside for your wedding breakfast, continue the spicy theme with a delicious menu that your guests will love. Start proceedings with hot-smoked fillet of salmon served with spiced cauliflower puree and a fennel, pickled radish and cucumber slaw. This is a beautiful plate of food that’s a really stylish starter for any wedding day.
Dukka spiced grilled aubergine with red lentils, coriander and aubergine pepper salsa and steamed wild rice with toasted pine nuts would be the perfect main course or, if you’d prefer something a little more relaxed, why not choose a dish from our bowl food menu? Who wouldn’t love chicken tikka, tarka dhal and pilau rice, especially when it’s served with naan bread, mango chutney, onion salad and a minted yoghurt raita? There’s something so comforting about a delicious bowl of tempting food and that’s the perfect vibe for a wintery wedding.
Finally, we have to talk about desserts and how you can inject a little spice here too, particularly if you opt for a slightly unusual finale to your wedding breakfast. You’ve got a huge selection of desserts to choose from and we’d recommend our chilled pineapple and chilli soup served with a lime crème fraiche. It’s the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
And then, of course, you can warm up your evening food too with our fabulous chef stations. Wok food would be brilliant for the occasion and you can choose from Chinese inspired options such as ginger and black bean spiced belly of pork with stir fried peppers and soy cooked noodles or a spicy Thai dish such as a lamb and chickpea green curry served with mange tout and coconut cream.
However, if you’ve got a favourite spicy dish or if there’s a winter warmer that you’d love to see on your wedding menu, just let us know. You can check out how to Create Meaningful Wedding Food With Our Bespoke Menus to find out more.
