After getting engaged on a wintry walk around Hampton Court Palace, Stevie and Kit started to plan their dream day, and the first thing they booked was their venue. They chose Gaynes Park, an enchanting barn wedding venue in Essex, after scouring the internet for months, although it didn’t take long for them to realise that it was the perfect place once they visited.
“Gaynes Park ticked a lot of boxes for us and it was the perfect blend of rustic and glamorous. The whole venue was beautiful and I loved that we had everything we needed all in one place. The location was brilliant as we wanted to be in the countryside but not too far away from where we live in London.” – Stevie
After setting a wedding date in August, Stevie and Kit began planning a vibrant and relaxed wedding theme that would suit the summer perfectly. With the help of Gaynes Park’s recommended stylist, Mediterranean Occasions, the happy couple adorned the Orangery, Gather Barn and Mill Barn with bold floral displays, colourful paper lanterns, twinkling lights and flickering candles.
“To make the most of the good weather, we hired garden games to play in the Walled Garden, which went down a storm with our guests. We also put up a kissing booth and put up some large white balloons for some extra fun-factor.” – Stevie
Gaynes Park’s team of Galloping Gourmet chefs pulled out all the stops to ensure that the wedding food and drink on the newlyweds’ special day was out of this world. After the ceremony, the couple treated their guests to Prosecco, Pimm’s and strawberry rose sangria, with plenty of imaginative canapés on offer too.
The party then made their way into the Mill Barn for the wedding breakfast, which featured hot and cold buffet options to give their guests an array of mouth-watering options to choose from. With steamed salmon, burgers, chicken kebabs and a puff pastry vegetable tart to choose from, it was safe to say that everything went down a treat with their loved ones.

“We had shortbread with fresh raspberries and a glazed lemon tart for dessert. The food was a big hit and I loved giving people the option of what they wanted to eat!” – Stevie
The Galloping Gourmet Events Team pride themselves on helping couples create their perfect wedding, and Stevie and Kit’s big day was no exception. With their own personal Event Manager, the happy couple had someone who would provide support, advice and help whenever they needed it, meaning all the bride and groom had to think about was enjoying themselves on the day. To make their wedding truly personalised, the couple wanted to create a bespoke wedding breakfast menu, and the chefs were more than happy to work closely with them to ensure they had the perfect dishes for their friends and family.
