At Galloping Gourmet, we believe that you should serve the food that you love on your wedding day and include it as much as you want to throughout it. Pastries, pies and tarts are absolutely perfect for weddings, from canapés to desserts, and more and more couples are serving a selection of these delicious delights. Whether you love hearty pies or delicate sweet pastries, here are some suggestions that are all worthy of a place on your wedding day menu.
The first food that your guests will sample on your day will be the canapés that you’ve selected. Pies and tarts work really well here and these bitesize treats will definitely make mouths water. For a warming canapé, our shepherd’s pie finished with creamed and buttered mash. It’s a family favourite that’s always super popular.
For an elegant and refined canapé, tarts featuring perfect pastry are always a great option. How about smoked haddock and Gruyere tartlets or a yummy vegetarian tartlet of ricotta and spinach with toasted pine nuts? These tartlets are packed with flavour and are a luxurious canapé that everyone enjoys.
Moving on to the main course of your wedding breakfast and again, pastries and tartlets are perfect for this. Not only do they taste fabulous but they also look brilliant on the plate and are always a top choice with couples, particularly in warmer months. Would you and your guests enjoy a fillet of sea bass served with a leek tartlet and balsamic butter sauce? Or maybe a warm tartlet of lobster and king prawns served with lemon butter and chive sauce? Let’s be honest, both options are absolutely fantastic.
But there’s even more choice for pastry lovers. Puff pastry tarts with roasted Provencal vegetables, basil pesto and melted mozzarella bring a Mediterranean flavour to your menu as does a fine plum tomato tart with black olive tapenade, Bocconcini mozzarella and wild rocket. For a hit of seasonal goodness, our tartlets of baby beetroot couldn’t be better, particularly as they’re served with red onion marmalade and mature Cheddar.
If you’d like a lighter main course, we would heartily recommend a tart made with filo pastry. Individual filo tarts with goat’s cheese, spinach, courgettes and pine nuts are the perfect balance of richness and delicacy.
No wedding breakfast is complete without a memorable dessert and our sweet tarts offer everything you could possibly want. Might you choose a glazed lemon tart with raspberry coulis or a dark chocolate tart with cherry sorbet on chocolate soil with a pecan salted crumb? We have to admit that one of our personal favourites is our dark chocolate tart with salted caramel ice cream and pistachio praline. What a brilliant finale to your wedding breakfast!
