Michelle and Chris had their heart set on an enchanting festive wedding in a breathtaking setting. They found everything they were looking for and more at Rivervale Barn; a beautiful barn wedding venue in Hampshire with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
“We knew as soon as we pulled into the drive that we would book Rivervale Barn for our wedding,” says Michelle. “It was the perfect combination of a large, grand venue and somewhere very personal that we could make our own. We had everything we needed all in one place, and when we visited in the winter of 2015, we could instantly imagine how it would look on our wedding day.”
With the help of a large Christmas tree and fairy lights wrapped around the beams of the barn, the happy couple created a winter wonderland with lots of hand-made touches for the personal touch.
“We used lots of silver, white and grey to give our wedding an elegant and wintry feel,” explains Michelle. “Plenty of candles brought an enchanting feel to the place while white trees with hanging glass baubles were our beautiful centrepieces. Our florist arranged the most amazing white flowers which decorated the tables and the aisle, and we continued the nature theme with a wishing tree instead of a guestbook.”
Not only can Rivervale Barn provide an idyllic setting, but the on-site Galloping Gourmet team of chefs ensure that wedding days are full of incredible wedding food and drink. After tying the knot in the Ceremony Barn, Michelle and Chris celebrated with a drinks reception of warm Winter Pimm’s, spiced mulled wine, elderflower sparklers and a keg of local ale from the Hogs Back Brewery. They accompanied the drinks with a selection of canapés including spiced chicken lentil tarts, lamb kofta with mini pittas and crispy risotto balls, which all went down a treat.
Everyone then made their way into the Dining Barn to enjoy a mouth-watering wedding breakfast. The couple chose the renowned smoked bacon Scotch egg for their starter, followed by an exquisite fillet of beef with green peppercorn sauce. With a triple chocolate brownie for dessert and mince pies and coffee to round it all off, Michelle and Chris shared an unforgettable meal with their nearest and dearest.
And if all that wasn’t impressive enough, the happy couple even indulged in spectacular evening food
“We had a pizza oven in the evening, which was the best pizza we have ever tasted!” smiles Michelle. “It was very personal as people could pick their own toppings and watch their pizza being cooked. Our guests were blown away by all the food and how amazing it all tasted!”

The Galloping Gourmet Events Team at Rivervale Barn work tirelessly to make sure that every couple has the best possible day, and the newlyweds experienced first-hand just how helpful they can be.
“Our wedding coordinator, Michaela, was an incredible help and support – we would not have had such a well organised day without her!” says Michelle. “She responded to all our emails very quickly, helped us make important decisions and made sure our suppliers knew exactly what they were doing. She was extremely professional and clearly loves her job.”
The expert chefs went the extra mile too, creating a special dish for the bride and offering opportunities for the couple to personalise their menu as much as they wanted.
“I cannot recommend Rivervale Barn and Galloping Gourmet highly enough,” smiles Michelle. “There was nothing that could have been improved for our wedding day; it was perfect in every way. The staff were wonderful and professional at all times and it was nice to see them getting caught up in the emotion of the day. We didn’t feel like they were just working at another wedding but that they were enjoying the moment too.”
