Mattie and Lincoln had their heart set on a venue that could cater for a beautiful winter wedding that also offered plenty of luxurious accommodation for their friends and family. After a little searching, they found Wasing Park; a breathtaking barn wedding venue in Berkshire that provided everything they were looking for.
“As we live in Australia, we don’t get to see our friends and family very often so it was really important to me that everyone was able to stay at the venue overnight,” explains Mattie. “That way we could have breakfast together in the morning and didn’t have to say goodbye at the end of the night!”
With their date set for New Year’s Day, the happy couple decided upon a wintry colour scheme and reindeer-themed decorations throughout. It was the perfect choice to conjure up memories of how they got engaged too!
“Lincoln proposed to me on a magical holiday to Lapland where he had organised a reindeer sleigh trip through a snowy forest under the northern lights,” smiles Mattie. “Reindeer are always going to have a very special place in our heart!”
“One of the most beautiful things we had was a painted picture of a male and female reindeer that a friend had painted. We then had finger paint and got everyone to fingerprint onto the antlers making a really beautiful guest book,” says Mattie.
Not only did the bride and groom get to enjoy a magical setting for their big day, but also the finest wedding food and drink to accompany it. The Galloping Gourmet chefs at Wasing Park ensured that the couple and their guests dined on an incredible winter feast.
To keep the chill away, warming mulled wine was served for the drinks reception with an array of canapés that included bacon-wrapped sausages, crispy fried Brie and smoked salmon blinis to give their day a Christmassy feel.
“We wanted something festive for our guests to enjoy with their drinks and Galloping Gourmet created the amazing canapés especially for us!”
For their wedding breakfast, Mattie and Lincoln opted crispy duck salad to start, roast English lamb rump with confit shallots for the main course and a decadent vanilla cheesecake with raspberry coulis for dessert. Mince pies were served with coffee for a final Christmassy touch. In the evening, the happy couple treated their guests to an exquisite cheese board with plenty of biscuits and chutneys too.
To give their day a little Australian twist, the couple picked the beer barrel drinks package from the Galloping Gourmet menu.

“The Events Team were fantastic!” says Mattie. “They helped with our coordinating and planning and came up with really good ideas to make our day extra-special. On the day, they made sure everything ran smoothly, that people were in the right place at the right time, and even thought up an emergency plan to help me get across to the venue when the weather turned awful!”
To help create the couple’s dream wedding, the expert Galloping Gourmet chefs were happy to conjure up a unique, festive menu, and worked with the couple to make sure everything was just right.
With the finest wedding food and drink, an exquisite setting and an enchanting wintry theme, Mattie and Lincoln had the most amazing time celebrating with all their loved ones. Even the bad weather couldn’t dampen their high spirits!
