When they started planning their wedding, Libby and Josh’s main priorities were to bring everybody together to have fun and make incredible memories as they celebrated their special day. When they discovered Mythe Barn, an idyllic country wedding venue in Leicestershire, they knew that would be the perfect location to do just that.
“We originally visited around seven or eight venues, all completely different styles, but as soon as we arrived at Mythe Barn we knew it was the one. It was light and modern but full of beautiful rustic features. The setting was stunning; the long drive and the entrance was the perfect introduction. The outdoor area was exactly what we wanted as we’d always imagined everyone eating and drinking outside in a courtyard. It ticked every box and the welcome that we received on our first meeting sealed the deal for us both.” – Libby
Once they had booked their summer wedding date at Mythe Barn, the soon-to-be-newlyweds set about planning how they would make the venue their own.
“As a wedding coordinator, I have seen so many different styles of wedding, but I had always dreamt of a classic, timeless white theme. Flowers were the main feature and our amazing florist, Avant Garden, went above and beyond anything we’d ever imagined. Our table centrepieces were so big and full of hydrangeas that no one believed they were real! We had a copper and hydrangea backdrop and a neon Happily Ever After sign for the evening reception. We made our name cards, menu cards and the seating plan ourselves and I think the flower frame for the seating plan was my favourite part.” – Libby
After a beautiful ceremony in the Oak Barn, Libby and Josh celebrated with their loved ones in the Cart Barn, enjoying a drinks reception and delicious canapés in this light-filled location. Pimm’s and elderflower sparklers complemented the summer wedding date while, Thai fishcakes, crispy risotto balls, mini beef burgers and sticky chicken wings went down a treat with their guests.
Mythe Barn’s Grain Store provided a wonderful setting for the wedding breakfast, with a light and airy feel and views over the rolling fields through the windows. The happy couple chose a menu that featured Galloping Gourmet’s signature smoked bacon Scotch egg to start, fillet of beef with dauphinoise potato and peppercorn sauce for the main course and a vanilla cheesecake with raspberry coulis for dessert.

“The food at our wedding was so important to us! We didn’t struggle to pick something from the menu, Josh took the lead on this and we agreed on every course. All the food was beautiful and a lot of our guests commented on how good it was. The presentation was amazing too! In the evening, we decided to have a barbecue, because who doesn’t love a barbecue in the middle of summer?” – Libby
The Galloping Gourmet Events Team at Mythe Barn helped Libby and Josh create their dream wedding day, with incredible food and drink throughout to help them celebrate in style. With so many fantastic memories made, it was hard for the couple to pick a favourite, but there are a couple of moments which stand out from the rest.
“For me, walking down the aisle was my favourite part. Seeing everyone you love in the same room and Josh waiting at the end of the aisle – I didn’t stop smiling throughout the ceremony.” – Libby
“Watching Libby walking down the aisle was what all the build-up had been for and, by the time it came to it, I was an emotional wreck! I also loved the band that she surprised me with. We always wanted live music to be a part of the day so the fact that she organised it and without me knowing was amazing.” – Josh
