When it came to creating their perfect wedding day, Laura and Matthew had their hearts set on a beautiful barn wedding venue, they just didn’t know which one. That was until they discovered Mythe Barn.
“We drove up the long winding driveway to the entrance at Mythe Barn and everything was so quiet and tranquil,” says Laura. “We both looked at each other and could tell instantly that we were smitten without even seeing the rest of it. As we walked around the venue and we could both feel this venue completely winning us around and from that moment we knew this was the only place we wanted to say our vows and become Mr. and Mrs. Merriman.”
The happy couple felt that the combination of modern and rustic style at Mythe Barn made it perfect, offering plenty of character while still light and airy. They were keen to allow the beauty of the venue to speak for itself so didn’t feel the need to commit fully to a particular theme for their day. Instead, they opted for decorations and colours that gave the place a personal touch.
“Matt designed all of our wedding stationery which meant it looked exactly how we wanted it to,” says Laura. “We used hessian runners to enhance the rustic feel of the venue and combined them with plenty of stunning floral displays and decorations in the form of birds and hearts.”
With soft pastel shades of lilac and lavender, Laura and Matthew’s day was perfectly suited to their spring wedding date.
Mythe Barn’s reputation for incredible wedding food precedes it and the happy couple were able to treat their guests to a real feast, courtesy of the on-site Galloping Gourmet team.
After their delightful ceremony in the Oak Barn, the couple celebrated with a drinks reception and canapés in the Cart Barn. With mini fish and chips, wild mushroom tartlets and fried Somerset brie on offer, it’s safe to say that they all went down a treat.
It was soon time for the wedding breakfast and Laura and Matthew had decided on a menu of a smoked bacon Scotch egg, a grilled supreme of chicken for the main course and a decadent trio of desserts to finish.
“For us, the smoked bacon Scotch egg was the stand out dish. Even now after the wedding, our guests are still talking about it!” says Laura.
The mouth-watering wedding food didn’t stop there either. With a hog roast in the evening, the couple’s reception guests were thoroughly spoilt too.

The Galloping Gourmet Events Team at Mythe Barn has been helping couples plan their perfect wedding day for years and used all of their experience to help Laura and Matthew make their big day extra special.
“Our Events Manager Becci was such a star and ensured everything ran smoothly,” explains Laura. “We were lucky enough to be able to set up the decorations the day before the wedding and had lots of help from the team. They were both so lovely, hardworking and nothing was too much trouble. Throughout the visits the staff were amazing, providing various suggestions to make the day that bit more personal and perfect.”
Laura and Matthew had an incredible day celebrating at this beautiful barn wedding venue in Leicestershire. It was everything they had dreamt of and more, and they got to share the most amazing wedding food with their loved ones in a truly picturesque setting.
