After a setting a date for an autumn wedding, Jamie and Luke began their search for the perfect wedding venue in Berkshire. They were looking for a picturesque setting with plenty of accommodation on site and when they found Wasing Park, an idyllic private estate in the heart of the countryside, they knew it was the place for them.
“Wasing Park was the perfect venue and we knew it was the one from the second we drove up the long drive. The whole venue had a secluded and special feel to it because of the lush fields all around and all the accommodation meant our guests could relax and not have to worry about a thing. The on-site church was the icing on the cake!” – Jamie
To celebrate Luke’s country upbringing and Wasing Park’s exquisite rural setting, the happy couple decided on a theme full of natural touches and floral decorations. The result was a wonderful blend of the great outdoors and elegance which brought the Castle Barn, church and Garden Room to life.
“As October can be a bit of a grey month, I wanted to include plenty of colour to brighten the day up. We used plenty of greenery with different shades of pink and deep reds throughout the venue. Flowers and foliage made up most of our décor, and we had lots of little touches like flip flops and toiletries baskets in the evening, hangover kits in every guest room and a beautiful flower wall in the Garden Room. We even had a biltong station to give a nod to my South African roots. – Jamie
The Galloping Gourmet chefs at Wasing Park are renowned for creating the most incredible wedding food and drink and Jamie and Luke took full advantage of this on their special day. After tying the knot in the charming church, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the Garden Room. Prosecco and a drum full of Peroni were served alongside mushroom tartlets, crispy fried brie, Thai chicken skewers and fish and chip cones while everybody enjoyed the warm autumn weather.
When it came to the wedding breakfast, Jamie and Luke treated their loved ones to a starter of crispy duck salad, a delicious ribeye steak for the main course and a refreshing lemon tart to finish. They also used Galloping Gourmet’s extensive wine cellar to partner the meal with a variety of South African wines to celebrate Jamie’s nationality.
“We knew that these would be crowd-pleasers and the food was of such a high standard, we didn’t stop getting compliments about it all night!” – Jamie
