How To Create A Wedding Menu That Really Brings Families Together

Weddings really are a time for families and for friends. There’s nothing quite like sharing great food with the people that mean the most to you in the world and we’ve got a wedding menu that rivals Christmas lunch when it comes to happy, cosy family vibes. If you want to create a wedding menu that really brings families together, then we’ve got just what you need so read on…

Our family style service has become incredibly popular this year and with good reason. It’s a really fun, enjoyable and interactive form of wedding breakfast. Get everyone involved and enjoy a very special kind of service which brings everyone together over great food. So, what does a family meal like this look like? Let us enlighten you…

As you might expect, your starters are served to the table. This allows everyone a chance to relax and to feel wonderfully well looked after. We’d suggest a relatively light starter so our warm tartlet of lobster and king prawns served with lemon butter and chive sauce would be perfect.

Our lobster tartlets are the perfect treat for you and your loved ones on your special day

Then comes the main event – the family service. Now’s the time to nominate a family member who can don a chef’s hat before they carve a whole joint of meat for everyone at the table. You can also nominate another guest to dish the beautifully carved meat out to everyone on the table and we’ll work with you to tailor each dish so there’s always a talking point and always something to get involved with.

Our favourite family style main courses include roast saddle of lamb with a spinach and shallot confit served with honey-glazed parsnips and a port and rosemary jus. If you love fish, why not treat everyone to a roast fillet of salmon with a Nicoise crust? This comes with melt-in-the-mouth new potatoes and a lemon and chive butter sauce.

We always suggest giving everyone plenty of time to enjoy their main course. This is family time so there’s no need to rush or hurry. Let your guests relax and make the most of their time together before you treat them to a yummy dessert. What could be better for a winter wedding than mini mince pies with coffee or a caramelised bread and butter pudding? For true indulgence, you might like to choose a baked treacle sponge with kirsch cherries and a cardamom and vanilla sauce.

A warm treacle sponge will certainly tick all the boxes, particularly for a winter wedding menu!

Keep the theatre going with your evening food too as our chefs prepare more mouth-watering delights in front of your guests. Gather everyone around the spit with mulled wine or cider with cinnamon, apples and oranges to keep the cold at bay as they watch our chefs at work. Whole roasted peri-peri chicken with wraps and coleslaw or a full spit-roasted pig with crackling will certainly keep the conversation flowing into the night.
