Home Comforts – A Wedding Menu Full Of All Your Favourites

A Wedding Menu Full Of All Your Favourites

We’ve all got our favourite dishes and most of them are those home-cooked delights that we would list as our ultimate comfort foods. We’re seeing many couples creating wedding menus that mix home favourites, childhood memories and pure, unadulterated pleasure.

If you like the thought of serving fantastic food in a relaxed style, then our perfectly cooked comfort foods are exactly what you’re looking for. Wedding food doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be delicious.

So, why has comfort food become so popular at weddings? Well, it’s partly because more couples are opting for a more relaxed style of wedding day and it’s partly because comfort food is just so brilliantly tasty! You can also be sure that your guests will all love your menu and they’re sure to smile when these home favourites appear on your big day.

Canapes are the perfect way to treat your guests after the ceremony and you can sample a selection of your comfort food favourites too!

We’ll start with post-ceremony canapés and you can definitely bring more than a little touch of comfort into this portion of your day. You could opt for mini fish and chips, local pork sausages served with onion rings and chips or even small but perfectly formed shepherd’s pies with creamed and buttered mash.

Mini shepherd’s pies make a fantastic addition to your canapes, especially for a warm and cosy winter wedding.

With your guests’ appetites well and truly whetted, you can serve a wedding breakfast that they’ll never forget. For your starter, how about smoked bacon Scotch egg with apple puree and crispy pancetta or, for vegetarians, an equally comforting mushroom Scotch egg with pickled shitake and mushroom ketchup, shallots, thyme and celery leaves?

Galloping Gourmet’s smoked bacon Scotch egg is a strong favourite for a first course. A great comfort food option to kick off your wedding breakfast.

Moving onto the main course, we’d suggest a fillet of beef Wellington with celeriac and potato puree, roast shallots and parsnips crisps served with a red wine and port jus. Or, for the ultimate in comfort, why not serve good old-fashioned mac n cheese? We serve ours with truffle oil and freshly baked garlic bread. It’s absolutely delicious and perfect for weddings of all styles.

Beef Wellington would be an excellent choice for your main course, and the Galloping Gourmet chefs always cook it to perfection. Is there anything more comforting than mac ‘n’ cheese? Treat your guests to some on your wedding menu.

A menu featuring comforting favourites just has to include the most delectable desserts and our wedding menus have a huge selection of treats for your guests. If you’d like a hot dessert, you really can’t beat sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce or, if cool puds are more your thing, our ice cream milkshake with chocolate chip cookies just can’t be beaten and your guests will love it!

Ice cream milkshakes and freshly-baked cookies are the perfect treat for kids and big kids alike! If you’ve got a sweet tooth and can’t decide how to end your wedding menu, a trio of desserts is the perfect option!

Of course, there’s more to wedding day food than canapés and your wedding breakfast. Evening food is becoming more and more adventurous and our wood-fired pizza is super popular with good reason. Made by hand in front of your guests, it’s the most delicious form of wedding entertainment around! You can keep your pizzas simple and stick to a classic margherita or add some ham and pineapple for a really retro twist.

The home comforts don’t end with the wedding breakfast. Freshly cooked pizzas are an amazing way to keep your guests happy in the evening.

Finally, don’t forget your drinks and what would be more comforting than delicious hot chocolates? Serve these with or without a shot of booze – it’s your wedding day so you definitely get to choose.
