Danielle and Lorance were searching for the perfect place to celebrate their special day. Somewhere they could share with all their loved ones and that had its own unique style and character. When they first saw Blackwell Grange, a breathtaking barn wedding venue in the Cotswolds, they knew they had found their ideal venue.
“We wanted a venue that was different and had plenty of character. We looked at seven or eight different locations venues that all had very quirky characteristics, but we kept coming back to Blackwell Grange. We loved the juxtaposition of the traditional ceremony room and the modern, stylish reception room and couldn’t wait to get married there.” – Danielle
Despite having a big personality, Blackwell Grange is versatile enough to work with a range of wedding styles, and the happy couple decided on a fairy tale theme for their big day.
“We chose this theme as we felt it represents our story. We have been through a lot together over the years and everyone really does deserve a happy ending!” – Danielle
With an abundance of flowers, garlands and fairy lights, Danielle and Lorance put their stamp on the venue and brought their theme to life. Glass domes filled with fairy lights and sat atop moss-covered books made enchanting centrepieces, while personalised touches and hand-made stationery gave the day a more personal feel.
To work with their late-September wedding date, the couple opted for a colour scheme of cool, autumnal shades. Subtle pink, soft grey and a deep burgundy ran throughout the floral arrangements and wedding attire to bring the day together wonderfully.
The Galloping Gourmet chefs at Blackwell Grange are always ready to help couples elevate their wedding day to the next level, and Danielle and Lorance quickly found out that they were in for something special when they attended the tasting event at the venue. After sampling a selection of dishes and drinks, the soon-to-be-newlyweds could narrow down their options and start creating their perfect menu.
After tying the knot in the atmospheric Thatch Barn, the happy couple took to the gardens to share drinks and canapés with their guests. Berry blush cocktails and apple julep mocktails were accompanied by crispy pork belly, wild mushroom and leek tartlets, mini shepherd’s pies and plenty more as their friends and family mingled and took in the idyllic surroundings.
When the time came for the wedding breakfast, Danielle and Lorance were welcomed into the Orchard Barn and enjoyed an unforgettable feast in this stunning contemporary setting. With a starter of braised ham hock terrine, lamb two ways for the main course and a trio of decadent desserts to finish, it’s safe to say that each dish went down a treat with all their guests.

“We both adore lamb and knew that this would definitely feature on our wedding day menu! Also, we had tried the treacle tart and chocolate brownie at the tasting event at Blackwell Grange and knew they were to die for, so we had to include those in our trio of desserts too. The treacle tart blew our minds; I need that recipe!” – Danielle
The Galloping Gourmet team at Blackwell Grange pride themselves on helping couples celebrate exactly the way they want to in this magical venue, and the happy couple found out first-hand just how helpful they could be.
“The Events Team were a dream! Verity and Alex did so much for us and were fantastic throughout the planning stages and on the day. The owners of Blackwell Grange, Will and Didi, were amazing too and another reason we chose the venue. They are a lovely couple clearly with so much passion for the venue and were so accommodating to us.” – Kate
