Danielle and Chris were looking for the perfect setting for that special day where they could treat their loved ones to good music and great wedding food and drink. When they first saw Davenport House, an enchanting country house wedding venue in Shropshire, they knew it was theright place for them.
“From the moment we first saw Davenport House I could just imagine us getting married there. It was so elegant and classically beautiful, with ornate furniture and a gorgeous décor; we loved everything about. We booked our wedding date there and then!” – Danielle
To complement the grandeur and beauty of Davenport House, the happy couple decided upon a theme of elegance and romance. Lanterns decorated the steps that lead up to the house while tea lights lined the dramatic fireplace inside the building. A colour scheme of ivory, gold and dusky rose brought a classic and timeless feel to their day.
“We used gold candelabras as the centrepieces on our tables and filled them with ivory and pink roses. The name cards and wedding favours we made ourselves which gave a nice personalised feeling to the decorations.” – Danielle
After exchanging their vows in the breathtaking Great Hall, Danielle and Chris shared drinks and canapés with their guests as a string quartet provided wonderful musical accompaniment. Grilled sirloin steak and duck fat chips, crispy duck spring rolls, goat’s cheese mousse and lamb kofta all went down a treat with their loved ones.
When it came to their wedding breakfast, the happy couple decided upon a fantastic menu of a smoked bacon Scotch egg to start, Scotch blade and fillet of beef with potato dauphinoise for the main course and a decadent trio of desserts to finish it all off.
“We were recommended the Scotch egg at the Galloping Gourmet tasting event that we attended in April and we weren’t disappointed. We both love a nice steak which is usually something we don’t eat at home often and the crème brûlée is Chris’ favourite dessert. I chose the others as I always look a dessert!” – Danielle
The exceptional wedding catering wasn’t limited to the daytime either, with the newlyweds opting to spoil their guests with wood-fired pizzas freshly cooked outside by the Galloping Gourmet chefs. They were just the thing to keep everybody happy and dancing all night.
The Galloping Gourmet Events Team at Davenport House pride themselves on helping couples create their dream weddings, and Danielle and Chris found out first hand just how helpful they can be.
“The Events Team helped so much! I never once felt stressed about the planning, which is amazing considering we did it in nine months. They made it possible for us to have the day we had our hearts’ set on.” – Danielle
