When Claire and Jonathan began their search for the perfect place to hold their wedding, it didn’t take them long to find their dream venue. When they visited Bassmead Manor Barns, a breathtaking wedding venue in Cambridgeshire, they knew that they wouldn’t need to see any others.
“It ticked all our boxes, enabling us to have our ceremony and reception in one place with gorgeous surroundings,” says Claire. “The venue was accessible by all and the staff were super friendly. The barns were rustic but beautifully furnished and everywhere felt light, airy and romantic. It basically gave us goosebumps as soon as we walked in!”
To celebrate their rural surroundings, the happy couple decided upon a natural country theme to their day.
“We used lots of foliage and wood elements combined with soft whites, greens, taupe and purple accents,” says Claire. “The aim was pretty but not too precise to keep a relaxed feel to the day. Our decorations were mostly floral but we also included lots of family photos for that personal touch.”
The Galloping Gourmet team at Bassmead Manor Barns are renowned for serving up the finest wedding food and drink, and Claire and Jonathan were able to treat their loved ones to an unforgettable feast all through the day.
After tying the knot, the happy couple celebrated with cocktails and a selection of mouth-watering canapés. The kir royale and gin berry fizz went down a storm as everyone mingled in the Moat Barn overlooking the garden.
The contemporary Bridge Barn provided the ideal location for a wedding breakfast to remember, and the couple’s menu proved to be equally memorable too. With a lobster tart to start, exquisite fillet steak for the main course and a trio of decadent desserts to finish, it’s safe to say that everybody got to enjoy something special.

When the evening reception was in full swing, the amazing wedding food continued! A bountiful cheese board and wood-fired pizzas cooked fresh in the outdoor pizza oven kept all the guests happy. The bride and groom kept the drinks flowing too, taking advantage of Galloping Gourmet’s drinks packages and treating their guests to a beer drum and a refreshing gin bar.
“The gin bar was a particular hit, with a queue across the barn!” says Claire. “I’d highly recommend it – especially if your friends and family are anything like ours!”
The Galloping Gourmet team at Bassmead Manor Barns know just how important a couple’s wedding day is and will go to any lengths to ensure that they have the perfect day. Claire and Jonathan experienced first-hand just how helpful they could be.
“Verity and the team were excellent – they answered every tiny question, no matter how small and helped to come up with ideas that fitted into our theme and allowed us to tweak them along the way!” says Claire. “They showed us photos of previous weddings to see what was possible at the venue and used their experience and knowledge to help us plan our perfect menu.”
