When it came to finding their wedding venue, Alex and Ivan were searching for a place that could create an intimate setting and offer incredible wedding food and drink for all their guests. When they found Curradine Barns, a charming barn wedding venue in Worcestershire, they knew that it was everything that they had been looking for.
“We chose our venue because we really wanted a barn wedding, however when looking at a lot of the options they were too large for the small wedding that we had planned. Curradine Barns had so much character and had a wonderfully intimate feel to it. The venue was illuminated by fairy lights and it just felt really special when we looked around. We both knew straight away that this was the venue for us.” – Alex
After setting a July wedding date, Alex and Ivan went about setting the scene for the special day at Curradine Barns. Alex’s dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses had somewhat of a fifties, vintage feel to them and the couple chose a yellow as their primary colour, perfect for their summer celebration. The main decorations were rustic jam jars full of flowers that were placed throughout the venue, which helped the couple create the relaxed and fun atmosphere they wanted to make sure their guests had an amazing time.
“There wasn’t an overriding theme for the day. The first things I bought were my shoes which were blue and yellow polka dot and that kind of set the tone for the rest of the wedding. Basically, we just picked things we liked and luckily they all went together!” – Alex
After the happy couple tied the knot in the Granary Barn, their guests spilled out into the Courtyard to celebrate with drinks and canapés in the sun. Elderflower cosmopolitans were accompanied by arancini, spinach and ricotta tarts, mini shepherd’s pies and smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis.
The Barley Barn provided a characterful and light-filled setting for the wedding breakfast where the couple treated their guests to wedding breakfast of antipasti sharing boards to start, roast chicken complete with potato wedges and plenty of different sides to share amongst the table and a trio of desserts which featured Eton mess, chocolate torte and a panna cotta served with raspberries.

“We had a palette cleanser in between our starter and main of a lemon sorbet with a lime vodka shot, which brought a bit of theatre to the occasion as it was served on a bed of dry ice. The starter was a stand-out dish for me. I just absolutely love that style of casual dining and there was so much to choose from on each board. All of it was delicious though and so beautifully presented too!” – Alex
The Galloping Gourmet team at Curradine Barns have plenty of experience in helping couples create their perfect wedding day, and they put all of that to good use when Alex and Ivan began planning their big day at this wonderful venue.
“The team were faultless! They were always quick to respond to queries and we had plenty of meetings leading up to the day to make sure we’d covered everything. They helped us consider and plan for parts of the day that we hadn’t even thought of! On the day, they were amazing at coordinating it all. We didn’t have to worry about anything and we really cannot praise the team at Curradine Barns enough.”
