A Wonderful Wine Tasting Trip To Tuscany

Here at Galloping Gourmet, we love visiting our suppliers across the world.  In April our venture took us to sunny Tuscany for a taste of the Italian wine at the Bolla winery and Vineyard. This was a great opportunity that allowed us to explore our products on a more personal level, to help us create the perfect packages.

Our Galloping Gourmet team not only embraced the opportunity to pay our well trusted suppliers a visit, we also sampled, compared and enjoyed some of the finest wines they had to offer.  The Bolla winery, make three unique wines using the same grape, which they grow on site. After a thrilling tour of the whole vineyard, we got to taste them!

Lunch was a fantastic addition to the day.  We were treated to a six-course meal, accompanied by the fantastic wines and beautiful scenery of Valpolicella.  The team all greatly enjoyed the fresh, hand-rolled pasta dish and Amaroné della Valpolicella, a deep and richly flavoured red wine. Another interesting find was a ‘skinny’ prosecco, a low-calorie alternative to the fizzy favourite.

Within the two-day trip we stayed in Verona, a romantic and vibrant town in the heart of Italy.  Here we spent our time viewing the seamless blend of modern and historic architecture.  We took advantage of the local bike hire and explored the city’s best sites, passing everything from the ruins of the Coliseum to the stylish designer stores.

As the trip came to a close, we visited the beautiful Lake Garda, where we indulged in yet another delicious lunch, followed by a walk along the cobbled streets, not forgetting to enjoy one last Italian ice cream from the local Gelateria.

The whole team found the two-day trip hugely enjoyable and a great opportunity to engage with all members across the Galloping Gourmet community; a real highlight to our yearly calendar.
