Emma & Shaun’s Autumnal Woodland Wedding At Bassmead Manor Barns

Happy couple Emma and Shaun stand behind the stable gate at Bassmead Manor Barns wedding venue

Emma and Shaun were looking for a stunning location for their October wedding that would provide everything they needed all in one place, and provide somewhere for their nearest and dearest to stay after the celebrations had drawn to a close. They found the perfect place in Bassmead Manor Barns; a breathtaking barn wedding venue in Cambridgeshire that offers an enchanting fusion of traditional and contemporary to create a truly magical place to get married.

“Bassmead Manor Barns just suited us perfectly,” says Emma. “It was a stunning backdrop but without being over the top or too formal.”

The happy couple opted for a wonderful woodland theme for their big day, with a hint of Robin Hood present in the decorations; a story which holds a special place in their hearts.

“We chose this theme as we both like the outdoors and we also got engaged in Sherwood Forest, so we wanted to be able to bring that into the wedding!” explains Shaun.

Emma and Shaun got creative with their decorations and made a great number themselves. In fact, they made so many that they couldn’t even use all of them on the day! With lots of wooden and nature-themed elements, they created the ideal rustic woodland look at Bassmead Manor Barns.

Wonderful wedding food and drink

This stunning setting is one of ten venues across the country that features a Galloping Gourmet in-house catering and Events Team, so Emma and Shaun could relax, knowing they were in safe hands and would enjoy some of the finest wedding food around. They also got to sample some of our much-loved dishes and hospitality at a Tasting Event at the venue, so they knew they were in for a treat on their big day.

Guests were served amazing wedding food and wedding canapes in this barn wedding venue.

“We had the smoked bacon scotch egg and pancetta for a starter, the fillet of beef with potato dauphinoise for main and then a trio of our favourite desserts – chocolate brownie and ice cream, crème brûlée and a mini lemon meringue pie that Galloping Gourmet kindly created for us,” says Emma. “The fillet of beef went down particularly well, and had so many compliments from our guests!”

The couple had sampled the starter and main at the Tasting Event before their wedding day and enjoyed them so much, they decided to include them on their menu. The trio of desserts wasn’t on one of the suggested menus, but the talented chefs were more than happy to provide the couple with exactly what they wanted!

Emma and Shaun treated all their guests to some mouth-watering evening food too, with wood-fired pizzas cooked outside in the courtyard. Emma also surprised her groom with the beer drum drinks package, which certainly went down a treat with Shaun and his friends!

Service with a smile

Since their first visit to Bassmead Manor Barns, Emma and Shaun knew that the Galloping Gourmet Events Team would take great care of them every step of the way.

“The team were amazing!” says Emma. “They kept us constantly updated of what we needed to do and when, answered countless stupid questions, were on hand to offer advice and even laid everything out on the morning exactly how we wanted it. During the actual wedding, Jenny and the rest of the staff were always on hand should you need them, but you hardly noticed they were there. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

With an amazing setting, beautiful wedding food and the company of all their friends and family, Emma and Shaun’s autumnal wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns couldn’t have been better!
